The second part of the tour at CERN

After lunch in the CERN cafeteria, Giovanna's husband took us to see one of the particle accelerators with its tubes and magnets to keep the particles going around the circle in the accelerator until impact. This was not even one of the large accelerators but it was enormous!

Mr. Bruno explained the purpose of the magnets and showed us the blue and red magnets that were about the size of a large van.
This is Giovanna and Soeur Badger standing by part of the accelerator.
We even had to step over part of the tube. Thank goodness the machine was not running.
Part of the elders had to return to Geneva but our remaining group stopped for a picture.
