On Saturday evening, March 27th, the young adults had a movie and pizza party.
Each person was to bring toppings for the pizza. Elder Wery made the pizza dough and Sister Badger made the sauce. The young adults doctored the pizzas with every imaginable topping. They watched the movie, "Yes Man," while the pizzas baked. There were around thirty in attendance and four of them were "amis."

March 17, 2010 Dinner at the Joulacs

On Wednesday evening, we were invited to dinner at the Joulac family home. Brother Joulac is an inventor and he shared his new invention with us. It is a little strainer to put on different sized cans. The zone leaders were invited also and we were each given a little strainer called a "Nephi." Brother Joulac fixed a Lebanese dinner with couscous, chicken and lots of vegetables. We were stuffed afterward. They have two little girls, Marina and Amelie.

March 13, 2010 Lyon Stake "Green Weekend"

On Saturday, March 13, the Lyon Stake had a "Green Ball." The evening started out with everyone dressed in green and seated in a circle. The group game was lots of fun. As a description was called out, the people who fit the description, ran to the center of the floor to retrieve a canister. After much bumping and sliding, the group adjourned to the foyer for a "green buffet." Each person was to bring a green dish. There were green quiches, pizza with green on it, lots of salad and many green desserts. The dance started later in the evening.

In the top photo, we have Harold, Estelle, Ataa, Jessica, Leyris and Lorena. The second photo is a picture of Elder Andersen from Norway and our dear friend, David Causse, from Geneva. Elder Badger took the picture of the green drinks in the third photo. The final photo is of Lorien, Mathilde and a lovely girl from St. Etienne whose name I did not catch. Elder Badger and I stayed until the music got under way and then we excused ourselves so the group could "party on."

March 14, 2010 Luncheon at the Center on the Sunday of Young Adult Activities

On Sunday March 14th, the second part of the "Green Weekend" took place. First, there was a luncheon at the Center. The four beautiful young women in the first photo prepared the food and set up the tables and chairs. The two on the right, Coraline and Helene, are the Lyon Stake Young Adult chair people and this was their weekend event. They felt very good about the attendance and the spirit of all those who attended. There were 41 at the luncheon. People made their own sandwiches and there were chips, drinks and dessert.

After the luncheon, the group went to the stake center in Ecully for an afternoon of meetings. At two o'clock, President Mejean, second counselor in the stake presidency, spoke to the group. At three o'clock, they had a Sacrament Meeting/Testimony Meeting. There was a break and then at five o'clock they watched the delayed and translated broadcast of the CES Fireside where Elder Rasband spoke. There were more than 50 young adults at the afternoon meetings. They came from Geneva, Grenoble, St. Etienne and other French cities. There were young people from Mexico, Tahiti, Africa, China, Denmark, etc.

Another six weeks has come and gone and we are losing some of our choice elders and sisters. Elder Wiser, on the left in the top photo, is going to the mission home to be an office elder. Sister Jordan is going to Luxembourg and Elder Nelson to Neuchatel, Switzerland. The final photo is of Rebecca, Virginie, Sister Andelin, Sister Jordan and Sister Badger.

"Fear Factor" at Family Home Evening

On March 1st, Coraline gave a wonderful lesson on appreciating the special qualities of everyone in attendance. We wrote something about each person in the room. The first photo is of Coraline asking each of us to write something about the person on our left and then to pass the paper on to the next person. Then the activity began. Elder LePretre and Elder Liechty engaged the young adults in the game "fear factor." The young adults were divided into two groups and then given difficult challenges. In the second photo, Elder Wery and Sister Jordan are competing to see who can sing "I Am a Child of God" with a mouth full of peanut butter. In the third photo, Elder Nelson and Hakim are eating a bowl of catfood with milk...ugh! In the final photo, Sister Andelin and Mathilde are racing to see who can finish a huge bowl of ice cream first. Everyone seemed to enjoy the challenges, especially if they were just watching and cheering on their teammates.

Ward dinner at the Swiss Temple

We had a Villeurbanne Ward dinner on Thursday night after we had all arrived at the temple. We had transported much of the food in our car. Each family was asked to bring a dessert so there were many from which to choose. These pictures were taken on Friday night as we finished up all the leftovers. Those in the picture are Sister Germer, Brother Stephane, Sister Isabelle Roux and others. It was an opportunity for us to become better acquainted with the ward members.

February 22, 2010-Family Home Evening

Our Family Home Evening on February 22nd was a big hit. Elder Le Prêtre gave a wonderful lesson taken from Alma 52. After the lesson, the group played a game involving ties. They had to tie two knots, clap their hands and then take it off and pass it to the next person. We served taco salad as the refreshment since we had lots of leftover chips, lettuce and tomatoes from the burrito dinner held on Friday evening. We had over 20 young adults present and five of them were investigators.
