Family Home Evening at the Center

On this particular night, after the spiritual thought, the young adults played a game in which, Rebecca, standing in the second picture, was supposed to figure out what was going on by asking questions. She got a little frustrated. The first picture is of Virginie and Lorien, two of our beautiful young women. This final picture is of the group that attended that evening. As you can see, we had banana muffins and cocoa for refreshments.

January 30, 2010 Feeding our hungry feathered friends at Parc Tete D'Or

This afternoon we took a bag full of bread cubes left over from the fondue party at the Center and walked to the park to feed the birds. The swan is my favorite. At times there are four or five swans. The geese are okay but they will come up and peck you if you have food.

January 30, 2010 Lunch with Ying, Cheng, Elder Wery and Elder Nelson

On Saturday afternoon, January 30th, Ying and Cheng, a wonderful young Chinese couple from Beijing, came to our apartment for lunch. They have been in Lyon for three years doing graduate work. The first year was spent learning French. Now they speak Chinese, French and English. Ying is in the school of pharmacy doing cancer research and Cheng is in the area of physics. They have known eleven missionaries. We don't know if they will ever be baptized, but we enjoy their friendship.

Elder Wery, on the left, is from Belgium and Elder Nelson is from Alpine, Utah.

Lunch with Kamilla and the sister missionaries

On Friday, January 22nd , Kamilla Usmanova, Sister Jordan and Sister Andolin came to our apartment for a lunch of chicken enchiladas. Kamilla is from Uzbekistan and had never had enchiladas. After lunch, Sister Jordan gave a wonderful lesson and we watched the film on the restoration of the church. Kamilla has been attending Family Home Evening since October and has become a dear friend.

Dinner at Chez Roux

One of the New Year traditions in France is to eat some King's cake (gateau de roi). The person who finds the surprise in the cake gets to wear the crown. Brother and Sister Roux invited us and Elder Behunin and Elder Nelson, the zone leaders, to their home for lunch. Sister Roux served a delicious turkey dinner with cranberry sauce. It was a feast. The dessert was the gateau de roi and Elder Nelson found the little figurine in his piece of the cake. The cake is more like a pastry. Brother and Sister Roux served with Grandpa and Grandma Robison in the Swiss Temple many years ago.

January 15, 2010 Fondue Party at the Center for Young Adults

On the evening of January 15th the young adults at the Lyon Center had a fondue party. We had four fondue pots full of wonderful hot cheese and bowls of country bread to dip into the cheese. We had fruit salad to offset the cheese. In the first photo, Estelle Mocellin and Jean-Louis Monneyang are helping with the preparations. In the second photo, Jeremy Mocellin has plenty of cheese on his bread.
The last photo was taken after the meal when we were cleaning up. There was no hot water so we had to leave the dishes until the next day. Tatiana Duflow is playing around with the guitar while Soeur Badger, Veronique, Rebecca and David look on.
