Since 1850, Lyon has celebrated La Lumiere or the Festival of the Lights from December 5th through the 8th. There are light shows on the city halls, cathedrals, Ferris wheels, etc. On the evening of the 8th, the people throughout the city put candles in their windows or on their balconies. There were 8 million candles sold in Lyon this year. We put candles on our balcony to be part of the celebration. The last two pictures show a little of the homes and streets with the candles. It was a mild night and the people were out in the streets to see the sights.
