June 28, 2010 Genealogy Family Home Evening

Brother and Sister Cara spoke to our young single adult group at Family Home Evening on the subject of Family Search or Genealogy. The Caras have been called as Family Search missionaries. They encouraged the young adults to get involved in the search for their ancestors. By the time they had finished their lesson, we had 23 young single adults, four elders and Arii's parents in attendance. Arii and his parents are in the last photo. This was Arii's last Family Home Evening because he is leaving for home in Tahiti on Wednesday. He is going home to prepare to serve a mission for the Lord.

Visiting the city of Grenoble, France

On Tuesday, June 29, 2010, we set out to visit Grenoble. For some reason, I have always wanted to see this city. Our first stop was at the Bastille where we rode the little cable cars to the top of the mountain overlooking the city. The cable cars were like little round bubbles. When we got to the top, we were able to see the city and the river that flows through it. It was too hot a day to walk down the path to the bottom of the mountain, so we rode back down. We drove around the city and even found a McDonalds where we had some lunch. It was rather hazy today because of the heat, but we could barely see the outline of the Alps in the background.

The City of Chambery, France

After visiting Grenoble, we got back on the autoroute and drove to Chambery. This is a beautiful city with lots of flowers. We saw the elephant fountain that the populace used to mock, but it is now a major tourist stop. It commemorates some general's battle in India. We also were able to see the chateau of the Duc de Savoie.

"Ridiculous" Activity to celebrate the end of final exams

On Friday, June 25th, the young adults came in ridiculous dress to celebrate the end of final exams for this school year. There was ridiculous food as well. We ate green and blue cake and vegetables made into a train. In the top photo, Ataa, Lorien, Emmanuel, Hakim, Arii and Leyris are discussing the game that was played. Jean-Louis and Lorena are in the second photo and Jeremy and Joa May are in the third. What an interesting group in the final photo.

I took these pictures so I can remember what it was like to look out from our balcony. I also wanted to remember what it looked like up and down the street where we live.

My geraniums are finally blooming. I had wintered them in the bedroom window and now they love being outside in the sun and the rain.

June 14, 2010- Denise's balancing act at Family Home Evening

Denise is one of our beauiful young adults from Mexico. While at school in Mexico, she learned many of her country's dances. She also learned how to hold her head still while the rest of her body moves. She is balancing a bottle of fruit punch on her head. In the second photo, she was showing us some moves with a dish towel.

Family Home Evening with Lorien Seon - June 7, 2010

Lorien Seon spent almost three months in Australia working on a cattle ranch. She shared her photos and experiences with all of us at Family Home Evening. There were 18 young adults present and five of them were investigators. The group had a good time visiting over refreshments.
